“Cole Strong” set to return

Cole Frye was as diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer on Oct. 6, 2012.  Since then, Cole has received 28 radiation and 30 chemotherapy treatments at Levine Children’s Hospital.  During this time, Cole’s mother Tanya, a teacher in Catawba County Schools, stayed at home to provide lessons and school work for Cole so he would not fall behind.  His father, Dennis, is a teacher at Mill Creek Middle School as well as a coach for many sports. In February 2013,  Kilby Davis was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Further testing for the cause of her cardiomyopathy showed a very rare genetic disease…Danon Disease.
Kilby is 15 years old and she received an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) on April 23rd 2014. An ICD is a small device that’s placed in the chest or abdomen. Doctors use the device to help treat irregular heartbeats called arrhythmias. Hearts and Hope announces Rams and Rivals

Due to several illnesses in our community, our board of directors has agreed to an annual fund raiser with the proceeds providing financial support to children and young adults affected by cancer and heart defects.  Proceeds from tournament/fundraising challenge will provide financial assistance to a couple of families.  The first is the daughter, currently battling cancer, of a 34+ year employee of the University of North Carolina football department.
